For my final cut I decided to focus on objects that imply motion. The other theme that I focused on was viewing objects through some sort of frame. It was a step in a different direction than my rough cuts but I am very happy with the result.
For my rough sound cut, I tried to animate a still painting of fish I found under a bridge. I found the image of the fish to be very interesting, because it appears as if it were drawn by a child, but if you look closer there are many political references and messages. The sound I used for this was just a recording of the river that I took near the painting.
For my second silent rough cut I focused on objects that look very different close up than they do from far away. Most of the graffiti footage was discovered when I was focusing on my first drift strategy, which was creating different aspects from the same obstacles I encountered in drift 1. All of the graffiti was under a bridge that I had crossed over on my first drift walk.
The focus of my first silent rough cut was water in its different forms. One of my goals for drift 2 was to capture motion, and what better way to do so than getting footage of running water? After filming the river, I came across many other representations of water, so I compiled them all for this video.
